“…where we lived
in England, for a short while, we lived on a farm and the woman who
ran the farm kind of got me aware of nature and animals and farm life.
I cannot look at a snowdrop without remembering her because she just
pulled me out from a chair, where I was reading … she said ‘You’ve
got to see this!’ And I went outside and this sometimes dour Scots
lady said ‘Look isn’t it wonderful!’ And there had
been some snow and, where the snow melted, these little snowdrops were
coming out. Her excitement and the whole feeling of spring was something
I kind of caught there.” |
