The Village of Ardentown was founded in 1922. One of seventeen land trusts founded between 1894 and 1950, Ardentown is based on the Single Tax economic philosophy of Henry George. As a result, a person's house is not taxed, only the land it sits on, which is owned in common and managed by three trustees. Half the land is woods and open space. Foot paths criss-cross the village.Theaters abound, including the Candlelight Dinner Theater, which is located in Ardentown.

Ardentown meetings are held on the second Monday of February, May, September and November at the Candlelight Dinner Theatre, at 7:30 p.m. All persons over 18 who have been residents for six months are eligible to vote.
