The Village of Ardentown was founded in 1922. One of seventeen land trusts founded between 1894 and 1950, Ardentown is based on the Single Tax economic philosophy of Henry George. As a result, a person's house is not taxed, only the land it sits on, which is owned in common and managed by three trustees. Half the land is woods and open space. Foot paths criss-cross the village.
The New Candlelight Dinner Theatre, one of the oldest in the country, is in Ardentown. For more information about its performance schedule call 302 475-2313.
Ardentown meetings are held on the second Monday of February, May, September and November at the Candlelight Dinner Theatre, at 7:30 p.m. All persons over 18 who have been residents for six months are eligible to vote.
