The main complaints have been:
- vandalized mailboxes (3)
- illegal fires and gathering at Indian Circle (1 reported to police + several informal complaints)
Remember, when you see or experience an illegal act, it is important to call the New Castle County Police non-emergency number (573-2800) and then report the incident to Betty O'Regan, Town Watch Coordinator (529-1269.)
July - August, 2006
FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
- Teen gathering places this summer are the bench on the Petit Green, BWVC parking lot and around the building, and the Gild Hall parking lot.
- There have been some thefts that have occurred during the day. When reported, the police have commented that many Ardenites don’t lock their doors and windows and that we are only one mile from a site in Claymont where crack is a problem. Please consider this every time you leave your home.
- Even with the lack of rain, the vegetation is growing. It is difficult to see around certain corners at this time of the year. Please make sure that you prune and clear your right of way for the safety of all.
- Young people selling magazines without a required permit were around a neighborhood again. Asking solicitors to show this permit is a good way to discourage them.
INCIDENTS REPORTED:
- Theft of a motorcycle with recovery of the vehicle and apprehension of the suspect, thanks to one of our diligent late-night town watchmen.
- Pool office broken into twice. Cash stolen the first time, empty cash box taken the second time.
- Ardencroft home burglarized during mid-day. Jewelry and a wallet with credit cards were stolen.
- Gunshots in the woods were reported and the young man with a gun was spoken to by a concerned citizen. The incident was reported to the Ardencroft safety committee.
